2009 NSBA Student Recognition Award Luncheon
The Nova Scotia Band Association (NSBA) hosts an annual luncheon to recognize students from our schools who exemplify the qualities we work to develop through participation in the school band program.
The award honours the band student who displays ability, respect, responsibility, leadership, dependability, loyalty, cooperation, and other qualities of conduct which school instrumental music programs strive to impart.
Each band director may recognize one student from the Middle School Level (Grades 6-9) and one from the Senior High School Level (Grades 9-12) from the school(s) he/she teaches in.

The award luncheon took place on Thursday, June 25th in the Commons room at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax. Approximately 65 people joined together to honour the 21 award winners.
Dr. Mark Hopkins, NSBA President, had a great suggestion this year - each band director said a few words about their award winner. A very thoughtful touch - great idea Mark! It will now be part of the award's tradition.

Plan to attend next year's event as the NSBA grows this celebration of student musicians to be as large as the NSSAF celebration of student athletes.
